What does it mean to paint with traditional watercolors?

The great painters of the past did not have tablets on which they could essentially trace a photograph with digital "tools" to create a "painting." The process of realism painting is slow and methodical, requiring a great deal of patience, awareness, and focus. I am nostalgic for those bygone times that I never even lived, and get to feel more connected historically by choosing to paint in an antiquated way.

I use only traditional tools and techniques to create every single painting: 100% cotton watercolor paper, mineral pigmented watercolor paints, and European sable watercolor brushes.
