California Poppy Botanical Print

This is an 8”x10" archival giclee print of my original watercolor botanical illustration of a California Poppy, Eschscholzia californica. Originally painted with traditional watercolor materials and techniques, this print excellently reproduces the watercolor magic with its rich tones and quality. It is printed on an archival, acid-free natural paper made of plant cellulose and cotton using premium quality pigment inks. This print won't ever fade or age, so you can enjoy the magic of California Poppies year-round, for generations. California Poppy is a native California wildflower (and the official state flower), which also grows throughout the west coast of North America, and has been widely naturalized in many parts of the world. It's iconic orange flowers light up hillsides in the spring, drawing often too many onlookers...and step-onners :( . Being related to Artemesias, it has grey-green leaves that are finely divided, giving it an airy quality, often tinged at the tips with a bit of fire red, as seen here in my painting. Long before the Europeans came to the New World, the Native American peoples used various preparations of the California Poppy plant for toothaches, to relieve headaches and stomach aches, and as a sleep aid for children. California Poppy tincture is currently used as mild sedative and analgesic, and also as an anxiolytic (anti-anxiety remedy). Due to the organic nature of the paper this is printed on, very minor variations and flecks of fiber may appear on the paper.
