The word fluorite is derived from the Latin “fluere”, meaning to flow. This is because fluorite is used in iron smelting as a flux, which decreases the viscosity in slag, which are the materials removed from the iron ore. Isn’t it surprising that such a gorgeous mineral specimen can also be so practical? Fluorite- in all its colors and inspiring geometric forms- encourages our intuition and creativity to flourish.
