This is an 11"x14" archival giclee print of my original watercolor painting of Elderberry, Sambucus nigra (ssp. cerulea- Blue Elderberry). Originally painted with traditional watercolor materials and techniques, this print excellently reproduces the watercolor magic with its rich tones and quality. It is printed on an archival, acid-free natural paper made of plant cellulose and cotton using premium quality pigment inks. This print won't ever fade or age. The print shows the name of the botanical under the painting- "ELDERBERRY."
Elder (Sambucus nigra) is a beautiful plant in all seasons. In spring it's sweet white flowers emit a floral perfume, in late summer it's berries have ripened, and in fall and winter, you can enjoy the bare magenta stems of the bush. Beyond their beauty as luscious shrubs decorating mountains and river valleys here in the Rockies, they’re also powerfully medicinal. They’re one of those medicinals that you can viscerally *feel* working. The berries offer antioxidant and immune support to the highest degree of any berry. Antioxidants reduce damage from oxidative stress in the body, which comes from both environmental pollutants and mental and emotional stress of the modern world- both all too ubiquitous. Antioxidants that are in elderberries include anthocyanins, flavonols, phenolic acids, and proanthocyanidins.
The flowers of Elder are antioxidant and immuno-supportive as well, but also a diuretic, laxative, or diaphoretic (helps you sweat).
Due to the organic nature of the paper this is printed on, very minor variations and flecks of fiber may appear on the paper.
