In having such reverence for Earth, I've wondered how we can admire it's beauty while leaving it undisturbed. I think paintings are an incredible way to do just that.
This is an archival giclee print of my original watercolor botanical illustration of Fireweed, Chamaenerion angustifolium. Originally painted with traditional watercolor materials and techniques, this print excellently reproduces the watercolor magic with its rich tones and quality. It is printed on an archival, acid-free natural paper made of plant cellulose and cotton using premium quality pigment inks. This print won't ever fade or age.
Fireweed is a pioneer species, meaning it is one of the first to appear after a wildfire. Its fluffy seeds ride the wind like parachutes and begin a new life where fate carries them. Even in seemingly unhospitable environments like roadsides and burn sites, fireweed persists and beautifies the landscape. It grows communally through spreading not only seeds but lateral root networks. The violet and pink flowers are so papery thin that they almost appear luminescent. Encountering fireweed may be a common occurrence, but it's beauty and healing capacity never fails to leave me in awe.
Due to the organic nature of the paper this is printed on, very minor variations and flecks of fiber may appear on the paper. Also, if you are looking for frame suggestions for this piece I recommend arttoframe.com for high-quality yet affordable frames, and the Etsy shop HangerFrames for quality poster hangers. For this piece, I recommend a 12" hanger. 11"x14" prints are sent flat, on a foam core backing board will protective covering.
