Citrine is distinguished from clear quartz by its citrusy colors ranging from transparent lemon to golden brown to amber. A trace of iron in citrine’s structure is responsible for its yellow-to-orange color. True citrine is usually mined in Russia or Madagascar, but most commercially available citrine is heat-treated amethyst from Brazil.
