In having such reverence for Earth, I've wondered how we can admire it's beauty while leaving it undisturbed. I think paintings are an incredible way to do just that. That is why I was inspired to create this series of mineral paintings, and share them with the world.
This is an archival giclee print of my original watercolor painting of a Fluorite crystal. Originally painted with traditional watercolor materials and techniques, this print excellently reproduces the watercolor magic with its rich tones and quality. It is printed on an archival, acid-free natural paper made of plant cellulose and cotton using premium quality pigment inks. This print won't ever fade or age.
Fluorite is a relatively common mineral, occurring on almost every continent. This particular specimen is from the Denton Mine in Illinois. The word fluorite is derived from the Latin "fluere," meaning to flow. This is because Fluorite is used in iron smelting as a flux, which decreases the viscosity in slag- the materials that are removed from iron ore. Many pieces of fluorite form isometric double (or more) stacked cubes, as portrayed in my painting. Fluorite is known as a "magnifier" and amplifies the energy of everything around it.
