In having such reverence for Earth, I've wondered how we can admire it's beauty while leaving it undisturbed. I think paintings are an incredible way to do just that. That is why I was inspired to create this series of mineral paintings, and share them with the world.
This is an archival giclee print of my original watercolor painting of a Rutilated Quartz tower. Originally painted with traditional watercolor materials and techniques, this print excellently reproduces the watercolor magic with its rich tones and quality. It is printed on an archival, acid-free natural paper made of plant cellulose and cotton using premium quality pigment inks. This print won't ever fade or age.
Rutile, which comes from the Latin “rutilus” meaning “reddish,” are delicate needle-like crystals composed of titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide is one of the main components of refractory ceramics, and more commonly what makes some sunblocks white (it’s an alternative to zinc) and the paint color “titanium white.”Increased iron and other minerals cause rutile to be other colors, like red and gold. Multiple colors of rutile transect this quartz piece. I hope it's magic and uniqueness brings special energy and beauty to your space.
