Watercolor Medina Aquamarine Print

In having such reverence for Earth, I've wondered how we can admire it's beauty while leaving it undisturbed. I think paintings are an incredible way to do just that. That is why I was inspired to create this series of mineral paintings, and share them with the world. This is an archival giclee print of my original watercolor painting of a naturally etched aquamarine beryl from the Medina Mine in Brazil. Originally painted with traditional watercolor materials and techniques, this print excellently reproduces the watercolor magic with its rich tones and quality. It's no mystery why aquamarine was named what it was. In Latin, it literally means "water of the sea." Sailors believed that aquamarine was a gift from mermaids and would wear it to protect them from drowning or simply prevent seasickness. They would also decorate their vessels with gemstones to encourage calm seas and thus save them from sinking. Aquamarine is connected to the moon and we all know the moon's influence over us and the seas.
